On March 11, 2020, the body of 29-year-old Jennifer Janelle Jesse was discovered on a quiet, rural roadside in Union City, Oklahoma. A proud citizen of the Seminole Nation and a mother of three, Jennifer had been shot multiple times. Her sudden death left her family shattered and investigators scrambling to piece together her final hours.

Because her body was found less than 12 hours after she was last seen alive, Jennifer was never officially reported missing. Yet, within 48 hours, forensic teams successfully identified her, shifting the investigation to a critical piece of security footage. At 9:13 PM the night before her murder, Jennifer was filmed inside an Oklahoma City Braum’s alongside an unidentified man wearing an incredibly specific outfit: a dark jacket and bright blue sneakers with neon pink shoelaces.

Six years later, that man remains unidentified, and the OSBI’s $10,000 reward remains unclaimed. In this episode, we dissect the investigative timeline, examine the case through a critical social work lens to expose the systemic vulnerabilities of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) crisis, and launch a community advocacy action plan to help bring justice to Jennifer’s children.
